The winning BJP got 37.36 votes in 303 Lok Sabha seats. It is the highest number of votes polled by any political party in India since 1989. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 353 seats.

The opposition Indian National Congress won only 52 seats. The Congress failed to get even the leader of the opposition because it got 10 percent less votes. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance won 91 seats while other parties won 98 seats. In the election, 67 percent of the 912 million voters cast their votes.

Born on September 17, 1950, Modi is seeking another term through the ongoing elections in India. Elections in India started on April 19 and will end on June 1. Before becoming the Prime Minister, Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014.
