Agriculture and Land Management Minister Bhandarilal Ahir from the Janata Samajwadi Party, who resigned from the ministerial post on the grounds that Lumbini Province Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara did not follow the agreement, has again taken over as minister. After the party split at the center on Sunday, he joined the party led by Ashok Rai and took charge of the same ministry on Monday.
He became a non-departmental minister on March 23 and was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management by Chief Minister Mahara on May 6. Three days after becoming a minister, he resigned from the post on the 9th and left the government.
When the government was formed under the leadership of Mahara, there was a written agreement on 7 points to give two ministries to Jaspa on March 22. Ahir resigned from the post saying that the chief minister did not follow the agreement when one more minister was not added from Jaspa during the expansion of the seven-member cabinet on 6th Baisakh.
Elected from Banke Constituency 2(1), he said that he is working after taking oath as the minister should not be held hostage after assuming office. Although Ahir resigned from the post of minister, Chief Minister Mahara did not accept it .
``I have taken office as a minister from the party led by Ashok Rai,'' he said.
After Ahir took office, Chief Minister Mahara himself held the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in Lumbini Province, which has 12 ministries.
