Demonstration in Kawasoti against the fraudsters in the cooperative

CPN District Secretary Suman Gyawali said that the victims staged a protest against the co-op cheaters. Gyawali said that because they were found to have only teeth to show that they cheated cooperatives and took action, the victims were rounded up and demonstrated. The protestors raised slogans, 'Take action against those who cheated colleagues', 'Refund the money of co-conspirators'. They alleged that the co-operative cheaters were protected by the big party.

The police investigation has shown that 165.8 million rupees deposited by 23 hundred and 94 savers in Chhiharpe Cooperative was embezzled in collusion between the board of directors and the manager. A case has been filed in the district court against 35 people for being involved in co-operative fraud. Out of 30 people, 10 have been arrested and 25 are absconding. The police investigation showed that the money of the savers was embezzled with the connivance of Yogendra Pandey, the manager of the cooperative. Pandey drowned the cooperative by giving unsecured money to people who were not members of the cooperative. Gita Basnet, federal MP of RPP, was also among those who embezzled 96 lakh rupees from the cooperative. It is mentioned in the police investigation report that he invested 96 lakhs in his Krishnasar resort in Bardia.

Even after the court issued an arrest warrant against MP Basnet, the district police said that he has not come in contact with the police.
