The construction of Pulchok-Gondrang six-lane road section in the main urban area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has been completed 85 percent. Although there is not enough budget allocation in the current financial year, the work has been speeded up by disbursing additional budget.
According to Ramesh Prasad Paudel, Head of Road Division Office, Chitwan, only five crore rupees were allocated in the current financial year. He informed that the work has been done by releasing an additional budget of 20 million rupees. The road has been paved from the central bus terminal to Gondrang. From the bus park to Pulchok, the second layer of black paper remains in some places and the last layer in most places.
Pavement, service lane, green work, street lights etc. are being done. He informed that it will not take much time as there is only black paper left. The Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation had taken the initiative of releasing the budget to complete the roads in the urban area quickly. He said, 'Now there will be no shortage of budget. The construction company had to work fast.'
The deadline for the construction of the road section, which was signed on October 27, 2077, has been extended for the second time until August. The construction work is being done by Indo Sagun JV. The company has already received payment of one billion and seven crore rupees. He informed that about 25 crore rupees have been paid to the company in the current year as well. The initial contract amount is one billion 23 million rupees, but the amount will increase due to price increase. According to Paudel, another 25 million rupees are needed to complete the work. This road is 6.08 kilometers long.
Renu Dahal, head of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality, said that since there is a low budget allocation for the roads in the urban area in the current financial year, the budget has been released by requesting the relevant agencies. The visit year 2024 announced by the Metropolitan Municipality could not be inaugurated at the specified time because of this road.
Chief Dahal said, 'Since the work could not be done due to the budget, the work was done after repeated requests to the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Physical Planning, Secretary, etc.'
