Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has approached the Delhi High Court to protect his name, personal identity and the nickname he got from the film industry. Popularly known as 'Apna Vidu', Shroff has approached the High Court to protect his name Jackie, nickname Jaggu Dada, Vidu, his voice and physical appearance.
67-year-old Shroff went to court on the grounds of using his picture in various memes without his permission. Shroff claims that his name and voice have been misused for commercial gain. Indian media has mentioned that the court will give a verdict in this case on May 2.
Jackie followed the footsteps of two other Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan and reached the court. In 2022, Amitabh also filed a case in the Delhi High Court for using his name, voice and picture without his permission. Bachchan, 81, filed a case at the time as his identity was being used to promote various businesses.
Similarly, only last year, the High Court had given a verdict on a similar case of Anil Kapoor . The court ruled that they could not use Anil's voice, picture and style called 'Jhakkas' without his permission. At that time, Kapoor also said that he had reached that decision because of Amitabh. Bollywood is currently waiting for what the court will decide on 'Jaggu Dada'.
