The contract for the construction of the underpass at Satdobato and Ekantakuna could not be awarded due to the lack of resources

In the budget statement of the financial year 079/80, the government mentioned that flyovers will be constructed at Gwarko, Satdobato and Ekantakuna in the valley and underpass construction will be started at Koteshwar and Naya Baneshwar. But so far the work has not started anywhere else except Gwarko. The work of construction of flyover in Gwarko is going on.
The study work to build an underpass like that of Kalanki at Satdobato and Ekantakuna has been completed . According to the study, the distance of the underpass to be built in Satdobato will be 540.78 meters. Nareshman Shakya, director of quality, research and development center under the road department, said that the study mentions the construction of an underpass similar to Kalanki. According to the
study, its construction cost will be 72 million rupees. Which underpass will be four lanes . Similarly, it has been studied to build an underpass in the lonely corner. The distance of which will be 300 meters. It is mentioned in the study that the construction will cost 500 million. Director Shakya said that the contract for both these underpasses will be done under the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) model.
'This is also to be contracted under the EPC model, now the study mentions the construction of an underpass, as an alternative, an overpass can also be constructed if necessary,' he said, 'According to the study, there is no problem in going to the contract in this financial year.' The study of both sections has been completed . As there is a lot of traffic in this section, an underpass is going to be constructed as an alternative to reduce traffic jams.
He says that since it will be made by the Nepalese government, it has been sent to the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to ensure resources. "It's been 6 months since we sent for resource assurance," he said, "so far no information has been received about it, if resources were assured in the current fiscal year, there would be no problem in going to the contract, there is still a possibility." He claims that the contract can be awarded for construction in a year.
The Japan Cooperation Agency (JICA) has completed a study on the construction of an underpass in Koteshwar. But the department said that it has not been decided how to proceed with the construction. Where a part of the Tribhuvan International Airport will be cut and a tunnel will be made and a small flyover will be placed in the herb. Although the pre-feasibility study of Nayabaneshwar underpass has been completed, the final report has not been prepared. Similar to Kalanki, there has been a study to build an underpass from the electricity market to the front of the Parliament building, but no further work has been done on it.
