After winning the World Cup title for India, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from Twenty20 international cricket.
In the press conference after Saturday's match, Captain Sharma said that the final of the Twenty20 World Cup was the last match of his Twenty20 international career.
Rohit Sharma said in a press conference, 'This was my last competition . I have loved every moment. This is what I wanted. I wanted India to win the World Cup.' Rohit Sharma will continue to play Test and ODI cricket. Under his leadership, India has managed to win the World Cup title after 17 years. Unbeaten in the entire tournament, India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final.
Virat has also retired from Twenty20
Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli has also retired from Twenty20 International. After India won the World Cup, Kohli announced his retirement. Kohli's best performance was in the World Cup final. When India scored 176 runs against South Africa, Kohli alone scored 76 runs off 59 balls. He was also selected as the player of the match.
Kohli said, 'This was my last Twenty20 World Cup . This is what we wanted to achieve. One day you may think you can make a run but something like this happens . God is great. It's a now-and-never situation . I played the last Twenty20 game for India.'
