After the full text of the judgment of the Supreme Court in the case of Giribandhu Tea Estate, Balen Shah, head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, made a strong comment targeting UML President KP Sharma Oli. Mentioning that the decision of the Oli government to allow the exchange of land worth more than 10 billion of T Estate was completely unfair by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court, Balen thanked Advocate Omprakash Aryal for his role in saving the said land.
At the same time, Oli emphasized that the government should be made a partner in the action. Although this statement is correct, it would have been correct if Balen had targeted the squatters living on the Bagmati edge of Kathmandu instead of the tea estate by Oli.
Only a week ago, Oli publicly expressed that it is not good to remove the squatters of Wagmati Corridor. Now Oli is criticizing the name of the judge in the Giribandhu case, which is wrong.
About four million people live in Kathmandu. One of the main problems here is traffic jam. To overcome this problem, opening the corridors of Wagmati, Bishnumati and Dhobikhola is indispensable. But squatters are living illegally in those corridors. Mayor Balen Shah is going to remove them.
But the government and old party leaders have not supported. Meanwhile, the president of the ruling UML, Oli, spoke in favor of the squatters without thinking. However, there are activists of Oli in squatter settlements. But will the corridor always be kept in this condition? Never looking for a solution?
