The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has raided Sai Swagat Savings and Credit Cooperative Society, which is owned by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane's wife Nikita Paudel, who is accused of co-operative fraud.
On Wednesday, the Cooperative Department of the Metropolitan Corporation raided the cooperative, which has been under investigation for the last few months based on the complaints of the savers.
Municipal Corporation Spokesperson Navin Manandhar said that the Municipal Corporation's team monitored the cooperative and took the necessary documents. .
The team has also brought the details of the debtors and members of the board of directors who took many loans. After receiving a complaint about the cooperative, the Asset Laundering Investigation Department wrote to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City last December 21 asking them to provide details about the cooperative's registration, board of directors and transactions.
Home Minister Lamichhane's wife Poudel is a share member of the cooperative. He is also the outgoing vice president of the cooperative.
