On this day (February 26) in 1993, a terrorist attack was made on the World Trade Center in New York. The van bomb was detonated with the intention of destroying the north tower of the trade center. 6 people died due to the bomb blast. Thousands were injured.

Ramzi Yusuf, Mahmoud Abouhalima, Mohammad A. Officials said the attack was carried out by the terrorist group of Salameh, Nidal Ayyed, Abdul Rahman Yasin and Ahmed Azaz. 4 of them were convicted in 1994 on charges of carrying bombs, conspiracy and destruction of property.

Attack planner Ramzi Yusuf and van driver Iyad Smoilly were convicted in 1997 . Ramji had previously spent time in the training center of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. His uncle, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, was the main planner of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.

About three thousand people lost their lives in the attack on the Twin Towers in New York and the US Department of Defense Pentagon. The attackers hijacked four planes and crashed two into the towers of the World Trade Center and another into the US Department of Defense Pentagon. The fourth plane aimed at the US President's office crashed in a forest in Pennsylvania.
