The government of Nepal has been receiving criticism from all over the world due to the crowding of climbers on Mount Everest, increasing pollution caused by human waste, etc. Dawa Yangjum Sherpa has been closely observing the changes taking place in the Himalayan region for the past two decades. 33-year-old Dawa, who was born in Na village at an altitude of 4,200 meters in Gourishankar Rural Municipality of Dolakha, has set almost a dozen records in mountain climbing.
She has records in her name including climbing Annapurna mountain without the help of bottled oxygen, being the first Nepali woman to climb Manaslu mountain in North Gorkha with the help of oxygen, and the first young woman to climb Ketu, the second highest mountain in the world. Dawa, who is also the first female Asian mountain guide, has successfully climbed 13 out of 14 peaks above 8,000 in the world.
