Dalit representatives of Turmakhand boycotted the village assembly

The unified movement for Dalit rights led by Nepal has boycotted 13 Dalit people representatives and leaders of the local Dalit community.

Executive member Jhankar Nepali said that among the 26 employees appointed by the rural municipality for contract service, not a single employee from the Dalit community was included and the rights given to Dalits were also taken away, so the village assembly was boycotted.

According to him, 14 percent Dalit community should be represented in all areas of the state, He said that the meeting was boycotted with five demands including that a plan should be created for Dalit empowerment, Dalit community employees should be rehabilitated, ambulance services should be provided free of charge to the Dalit community and scholarships should be provided to Dalit community students studying higher education.

'Despite hiring 26 contractual employees, not even one Dalit was hired. Dalits were not given a place even when they hired office assistants to cleaning staff, said executive member Nepali. There are preparations to lock down the village today.'

Executive members Jhankar Bahadur Nepali and Mindra Nepali are among those who boycotted the village assembly. Likewise Jaipuri Damai, member of ward number one, Dipendra Kami, member of ward number two, Chandrakaladevi Vick, member of ward number three, Lal Bahadur Nepali and Log Bahadur Tamatta, Rosnakumari Bik of ward number four, Nannidevi Bhul of ward number five, Jamunadevi Sunar of ward number seven, Khirmidevi Das of ward number eight and Jaisra Bik of ward number eight and Lal Bahadur Tiruwa from the local Dalit community. There are 89 people.

Integrated movement for Dalit rights Coordinator Gambhir Bhul said that under the leadership of Nepal, Dalit rights are being neglected in a phased manner.

'Now the representative of the Dalit community boycotted the village assembly have done . In the office itself, there is a protest by throwing a black banner saying that it is a Dalit forbidden municipality. If the demands are not addressed, more protest programs will be carried out.

The president of the rural municipality, Dambar Bisi, said that there is no truth in matters such as Dalits are not given opportunities and forbidden in Turmakhand rural municipality. "When hiring contract employees, applications have also come from Dalits." They were not selected after going through the process. Office assistants have also come through the process of examination. In the future, the executive will decide on the issue of keeping Dalits as mandatory when hiring employees in this way.'' Gausambha could not be conducted by keeping one community out.
