Internal revenue of Biratnagar metropolis is limited to employee salaries and administrative expenses

There are 126,750 taxpayers registered in this metropolitan city. From those taxpayers, the city had set a target of earning 870 million in internal revenue for the current year. With one month left of the current year, the metropolis has collected only 45 crores in revenue. According to the statistics of the Metropolitan Revenue Division, 77,700 of the total taxpayers have not paid their taxes.

This metropolis collected only 64 million last year when it had set a target of 99 million domestic income. Before that While setting a target of one billion, it earned only 49 crores. While there is a provision to have at least one billion internal income to be a metropolis.

There are 565 employees in the metropolis, including more than 300 contracts, some door attendance. Salaries, allowances and administrative expenses of those employees are more than 62 crores annually. According to Rajendra Parajuli, the chief administrative officer of the metropolis, the internal income of the metropolis has been covering only the salaries and allowances of the employees and administrative expenses. target, revenue has not been collected in any title. Parajuli said that there is a problem due to non-collection of house map, land transaction, business, property tax according to the target. According to Parajuli, when the city aimed to collect 36 crores from real estate business, 180 crores and 180 crores from house map tax, only 40 crores were collected.

The metropolis has collected 138.4 million 37 thousand property tax in eleven months of the current year. This is only half of the goal. Chief Revenue Division Saroj Gautam said that only half of the target revenue has been collected in all the titles. Similarly, most of the 87 institutional schools operating in the metropolis have not paid property tax. Some institutional schools have been paying taxes regularly. Most of them have not paid. According to departmental sources, the metropolis has stopped the service facility including the mark sheet of class 8 of non-tax paying institutional schools.

Himalaya Talkies, Center Mahal and Neuro Hospital here have not paid lakhs of rupees tax. Big Hotel's Casino Champion John has not paid entertainment, sales and business tax for two years, the metropolis said.
