A budget of 36 crores has been allocated to operate ATR-72 aircraft at Bharatpur Airport, the home district of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Since the runway there is short, land has been acquired from the army and a budget of 360 million has been allocated to increase the length of the runway.
At present, there is only one runway in Bharatpur capable of taking off and landing ATR-42 aircraft. The government has said that this work will be completed within the next financial year. At the time of the army there, Meghauli has to be moved. Now a new terminal building worth 1 billion 92 crores is under construction in Bharatpur. Prime Minister Dahal and Bharatpur Mayor Renu Dahal laid the foundation stone in 079 Chaitra.
