The Armed Police Force of Nepal, which has the main responsibility of protecting the country's borders, has established a Border Out Post (BOP) at Samdo in Gorkha towards the Chinese border.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa informed that a BOP was established on Sunday in Samdo located in Chumanubri rural municipality-1 under the authority of Armed Police No. 29 Gulm Gorkha.
The said BOP is about 164 km north of Gorkha headquarters. Established at a height of about 3,875 meters above sea level, there is a Ruila border crossing with China, about 15 kilometers from BOP.
The BOP established in the Nepal and China border areas will carry out tasks such as emergency incidents, snowstorms, rescue of citizens caught in avalanches, illegal theft and smuggling control, reduction of criminal and unwanted activities in the border areas, regular border posts and monitoring of the border areas, according to the Armed Police.
Earlier, the armed police have established BOPs in nine places including Tinkar in Darchula, Hilsa in Humla, Nechung in Mustang, Timure in Rasuwa, Tatopani and Gumba in Sindhupalchok, Lamabagar in Dolakha, Kimathangka in Sankhuwasabha, Olangchungola in Taplejung.
The armed police have established a total of 254 BOPs in the border area, 244 towards the border of India and 10 towards the border of China.
