Education Science and Technology Minister Sumana Shrestha has said that teaching licenses are required for teachers and counselors who teach students with autism.
This was expressed by the central president of Nepal Samajwadi Vidyarthi Union, Netra Chapagai, who has been protesting for the last five days at Maitighar Mandla on Sunday. She said that the ministry is going to arrange licenses for autism counselors. She also said that the government is taking necessary steps to open the school only after obtaining the permit.
What we should be clear about having autism is that there is no licensing for counselors in Nepal, nor is there a license for autism occupation therapy. Until the licensing provision comes, who will work just by opening the school ? I am serious about licensing," she said.
Netra Chapagai, the central president of the protesting Nepal Samajwadi Vidyarthi Union, demanded to remove the disparity between the government level and the private sector in basic education. He said that he has been standing and protesting for the past five days with the demand that the cost of lunch should be reduced from 15 to 50, and that the salary of teachers should be based on international standards .
