Health insurance program is becoming a means of corruption: Speaker Ghimire

Saturday National Concern and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly Speaking on the subject, Speaker Ghimire claimed that if political parties and people's representatives take care carefully, corruption in such programs can be controlled.

He said that the role of political parties and people's representatives is important in preventing deadly diseases like cancer and conducting awareness programs.

'Now that we have introduced the health insurance program, my feeling is that the process of going for health check-ups, going to the hospital after getting sick, and taking medicine according to the facilities provided by it, has been well developed. But in terms of implementing it in practice, it is so difficult that it is becoming a means of corruption," Speaker Ghimir said, "People's representatives and political associations and organizations are not aware of using health insurance properly. The government has not thought about how it is implementing it and how corruption can be stopped within it.'

He said that although the purpose of the insurance program is to provide relief to the citizens, the government mechanism should be aware of the misuse and irregularity of the program. Chairman of the

committee, Dilkumari Thapa (Rawal), urged the government to arrange the treatment of cancer under the health insurance program. "It seems that it would be appropriate to make arrangements for cancer awareness to be included in the curriculum from the school level," she said.
