American computer programmer and businessman Mark Zuckerberg was born on this day (May 14) in 1984. He is the co-founder of the social network Facebook. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Facebook.
Zuckerberg founded the social network Facebook on February 4, 2004, along with Harvard University friends Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskowitz, and Chris Hughes. Initially limited to Harvard University students, Facebook has gradually been opened to the public through other universities.
By 2006, Facebook allowed anyone over the age of 13 to open an account. Facebook, which introduced the messaging feature from November 15, 2010, added the video call feature from April 28, 2015 and the live feature from August 5.
Facebook, headquartered in Menlo Park, California, USA, currently has at least three billion users. It is said that more than half of them use Facebook regularly. Facebook is the third most visited website in the world. In October 2021, Facebook was renamed Meta Platforms Incorporated. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus are running under it.
