Peace Corps Deputy Director David E. White Jr. arrived on Wednesday on a five-day visit to Nepal. Dean R. American Ambassador to Nepal. Thompson welcomed.
During his visit, Deputy Director White will meet with representatives of the Nepalese government and civil society. According to the American Embassy, there is a program to thank the Nepalese government and civil society representatives for the long-term support of the Peace Corps program since its inception. Also, he will discuss the plan to expand the Peace Corps program in Nepal.
Deputy Director White will also participate in the swearing-in ceremony of 10 Peace Corps "Response Volunteers" who arrived in Nepal a while ago. This is the first group of 'response volunteers' to work in Nepal. The
Peace Corps Response program sends experienced American volunteers to countries requesting their assistance to carry out short-term (nine to twelve month) long, high-impact tasks.
