Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that green economy technology and green economy are central to Nepal's future prosperity. Prime Minister Dahal said this while inaugurating the European Union (EU)-Nepal Business Forum-2024 on Wednesday.

Addressing the two-day business forum, Prime Minister Dahal also informed that the government is amending the law to facilitate doing business and bring in private investment. He said, 'Since the 50 years of EU-Nepal relations have been completed, a new chapter of common development and prosperity has begun.' The ambassadors of member states and the global director of the European Investment Bank (EIB) were also present.

Ferran, Deputy Director General of EU International Partnership, said that the European Union's global proposal for sustainable investment, 'Global Gateway', is already supporting renewable energy and will further support investment in Nepal's priority areas.

The EU-Nepal Business Forum has more than 300 participants, including more than 50 speakers, who will discuss renewable energy, information and communication technology, high-level tourism, and agriculture, according to the Kathmandu-based EU.

EU ambassador for Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, mentioned achievements such as a 64 percent increase in information technology service exports in Nepal in 2022 to 500 million euros and the arrival of more than 1 million tourists in 2023. She said these achievements are opportunities for European businesses.

Ambassador Lorenzo said that from the last business forum, Nepal has approved about 400 projects worth about 47 billion rupees with the significant contribution of small firms.
