Mohi farmers of Swargadwari Guthi slept on the road

550 Mohi farmers from across the district were sitting on the street in front of the district administration office since the night of February 8. Prabhu Chaudhary, president of Mohi Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, said that even after staying for three days, the government did not show any signs of addressing the demand.

The Mohi farmers of Swargadwari Guthi, who came together with Halojua and Mohipurja, have demanded that the Guthi Act be promulgated. Of the 1034 bigha 17 katha 7 dhur land of Swargadwari Ashram, 753 bigha land is occupied by mohi. Chowdhury said that in the beginning there were 289 Mohi farmer households, but now as new houses are being broken down, there are 3 thousand 5 households. He informed that more than 15,000 members are dependent on them.

Due to legal complications, dual ownership of the land of Guthi Swargadwari Ashram, an important religious and tourist site in Nepal, continues. On the one hand, the Supreme Court has ordered that the Ashram's land cannot be fragmented because Swargadwari Guthi is a private Guthi of a special nature, and on the other hand, Mohi Kisan is demanding justice with Mohipurja.

On 14th March 2062, Mohi Kisan was denied the right to land after the Supreme Court held that the Swargadwari Guthi is a private Guthi of a special nature and issued an injunction that the land registered in the name of the Ashram should not be fragmented and embezzled in any way, thereby infringing on the autonomy of the Ashram. The bench of Judge Ram Prasad Shrestha and Damodar Prasad Sharma ordered that no interference should be made in the land purchased from the money of Mahaprabhu Hansanand Giri of Swargadwari Ashram, so as not to disrupt the performance of the Yagya.

Mohi Kisan demands that Swargadwari Guthi should be mentioned as a private Guthi of a special nature in the Guthi Bill instead of looking at all the Guthi from the same point of view. Chowdhury, Chairman of Sangharsh Committee, said that in the bill that was stopped due to opposition, Mohiyani rights should be established on the land of Swargadwari Guthi and the land should be distributed accordingly.

The Secretary of the Sangharsh Committee, Bharatraj Giri, said that there is a program of picketing at the offices of all political parties in Dang with a rally from February 13th to 15th. Giri informed that a sit-in with a rally and shutdown of East-West Highway for two hours has been planned from February 20th to 22nd.

Similarly, on February 27th and 28th in Ghorahi, the joint secretary of the struggle committee, Pravin Choudhary, said that it was decided to hold a conference of farmers from all over the country and issue a manifesto for the farmers. The Swargadwari Ashram Management Committee has formed a committee to study the issue of dual ownership of land and submit a report. Based on the report of the said committee, the committee is ready to take further steps. Chief District Officer Rambandhu Subedi said that there is nothing that can be done at the district level and he has informed the demand center of Mohi Kisan.
