Bhaktapur Hospital has performed free uterine surgery on 21 people in 10 days. Director of the hospital, Dr. Sumitra Gautam, informed that the hospital has started free treatment and surgery targeting women who have the problem of uterine prolapse but have not been able to access the treatment.
Out of the free treatment, 18 people were from Sindhupalchok and the rest from Sindhuli, Kavrepalanchok and other districts, she informed.
Informing that patients continue to come from rural areas of Bhaktapur and other districts, she called upon women not to hide their illness and come for treatment. Dr. Gautam said, ''It was found that a lot of pain was hidden in the women who came with the problem of uterine prolapse, some of them could not tell the disease, but many of them complained that they could not undergo surgery due to lack of finances. Now treatment does not stop because there is no money, we provide free treatment. Women from any region who come here get free treatment and surgery services.'
hospital provides free food and accommodation for the patient and one person during their stay in the hospital for cervical examination, lab tests, surgery, and transportation expenses when they return home 1000 has been given and sent.
It has been reported that a campaign for free treatment and surgery of uterus has been started by adjusting the expenses from the budget coming from the federal government through the provincial government health directorate. This campaign will run until the end of June.
