Nepal Electricity Authority has brought 9 substations for electricity distribution into operation since July of the current financial year. The authority has also constructed and commissioned 33 and 11 kilovolt (KV) and 400 volt lines to deliver electricity from the grid substation to the distribution substation and to deliver electricity from the distribution substation to the consumer.

Nine new substations in operation

Distribution transformers are also installed. From July until now, 9 distribution substations of 33/11 KV capacity have been completed and put into operation. This has improved the electricity supply in the substation construction area and leakage has also decreased. Kulman Ghising, executive director of the authority, said that the construction of distribution lines and substations is going on throughout the country to provide reliable, quality, sufficient and safe electricity to the consumers.

He said that the construction of transmission line and substation has been started. The authority has constructed 33/11 KV Chisapani substation for power supply in western region of Ilam and Panchthar, Dhanjavan substation for power supply in Wagmati and Bakaiya Rural Municipality of Makwanpur, Mangla, Malika and Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality of Myagdi. Darbang substation and Bozhpokhri substation have been constructed and put into operation for electricity supply in Bullingtar Rural Municipality area of ​​Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Susta East).

The substation was built through the investment of the government and authorities and the Asian Development Bank's concessional distribution system strengthening and expansion project. Under the project, the construction of 25 new substations and the upgrading of 12 substations and the construction of the distribution network were carried forward. Out of the 25 substations, the construction of five is in the final stage and the upgrading of the substations has been completed .

33/11 KV substations for distribution at Manhari of Makwanpur, Dudhauli of Sindhuli, Namdu of Dolakha, Unichaur of Lalitpur have been constructed and put into operation with the concessional loan received through the World Bank's Grid Solar and Energy Efficiency Project.

A distribution substation has been constructed at Ramchhap's Bamti with concessional loans from the World Bank. 33 kV transmission line reaching the said substations and lines for power supply from there have also been put into operation.
