Even the Congress sitting on the opposition bench at that time gave a vote of confidence to Dahal.

When the proposal of the first vote of confidence presented by Dahal was presented for decision, 268 of the 270 MPs present in the House of Representatives meeting voted in favor. At that time, only Chitra Bahadur KC of Rashtriya Janamorcha and Prem Suwal of Nemkipa voted against him.

With the presidential election, Dahal broke the alliance with the UML in the second week of February 2079 and started the journey to power with the Congress. After the alliance with UML was broken, Dahal submitted a motion of confidence in the House of Representatives for the second time on Chait 6, 2079.

When the vote of confidence was taken for the second time, Congress, Maoist Center, Jaspa, United Socialist Party, Janmaat Party, Democratic Socialist Party, Civil Liberation Party, Rashtriya Janamorcha and independent MPs including Prabhu Shah, Amresh Kumar Singh stood in favor of Dahal.

When the vote of confidence was taken for the second time, 172 MPs voted in favor of Prime Minister Dahal out of 262 MPs present in the House. 89 MPs were against Dahal, while Nemkipa was on the side of 'no vote'.
