The CPN-UML Kailali district convention that started on Sunday has not been able to decide the leadership till Wednesday. Central Chairman KP Sharma Oli had asked to start the voting process on Monday if no agreement could be reached on the first day.

However, Chief Electoral Officer Man Bahadur Zora said that the election process was moved forward on Wednesday as the aspirants for major posts, including the chairman, failed to reach an agreement on the fourth day.

acting president Durga Prasad Joshi, secretary Daisy Pandey and leader Yagya Dhungana have registered their candidacy for the post of president along with the panel. 6 people have registered their candidacy for the post of vice president. They are Gajen Swar, Dal Bahadur Bista, Madan Ojha, Birendra Bahadur Rawal, Vishnu Bahadur Chaudhary, Lokendra Shahi. Bishnukumar Chand, Dan Bahadur Vishwakarma, and Mamta Prasad Chaudhary have been candidates for the post of secretary. Voting is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

For the first time, UML Kailali decided to submit a letter of intent to the aspirants as an effort to seek consensus before the convention. But the said method was not successful and even four days after the beginning of the session, the session was inconclusive when the three aspirants for the post of chairman could not agree even four days after submitting the letter of intent.

53 people have submitted their letters of intent on the same day in five positions of the official level including the president. There are 591 representatives from 13 local levels in Kailali to elect a 152-member district committee.
