Lumbini Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara has reached his home district Rolpa to celebrate Paddy Day on Saturday, June 15. He reached Sunil Smriti Rural Municipality-5 Kavra of Rolpa and celebrated the 21st National Paddy Day. Only 18.55 percent of paddy has been planted in Lumbini province by June 15. Although more area has been planted in the hilly districts, there has been less planting in the Terai districts. In Rupandehi of Terai, 23 percent, West Nawalparasi 58 percent, Bardia 23.8 percent, Dang 10 percent and Kapilvastu 4 percent have been planted.

Similarly, the directorate said that 75 per cent planting in hill district Rolpa, 22 per cent in Arghakhanchi, 11/11 in Rukumpur and Gulmi, 9 per cent in Palpa. According to Sandesh Dhital, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management of Lumbini, 35 percent of the land where rice is cultivated in Lumbini has been provided irrigation facilities within twelve months. According to the ministry, there is a situation where the other lands have to rely on water from Syabo Tubel, Boring and Akase Pani.
