The temperature record of 58 years has been broken in the Himalayan district of Taplejung. According to the Water and Meteorology Field Office, Taplejung, 29 degrees was recorded in the capital Fungling last Saturday, and 28.8 degrees was recorded on Wednesday.

According to David Dhakal, the head of the office, the record temperature was 28.7 degrees in 1966.

"After the establishment of our office, looking at the latest data, it has been found that May has the highest temperature since 58 years," said Dhakal. Citizens have felt some relief due to light rain in the evening.

It is still hot in Aul region compared to the capital Fungling which is at an altitude of 1700 meters. According to the police station, the temperature reached 36 degrees at the meteorological station maintained by the Mewakha police station of Pathibhara Yangwarak rural municipality.
