After a meeting called by Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Saturday to prepare the necessary agenda for the functioning of Parliament, UML chief whip Mahesh Bartaula and National Independent Party chief whip Santosh Pariyar replied that there is no need to form a parliamentary inquiry committee in the cooperative fraud case against Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane.

The Nepali Congress has been taking a stance that it will not allow the House to function without the resignation of the controversial Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane. But the ruling major component UML and Rashtriya Swatantra Party have said that it is not necessary . UML's chief whip Bertaula said that it cannot be accepted that the Congress brought this matter with the intention of not allowing the government to work. He said that the Congress should be free from political bias and create an environment for the House to move forward.
