Senior artist Harivansh Acharya has commented that social media has overshadowed the culture of reading. He said that it is impossible to imagine a society without literature and that it is the responsibility and duty of every public representative to build up their language, literature and culture.
Friday Senior artist Acharya said that social media has killed the reading culture at the opening program of Budhanilkanth Cultural-Literary Festival 2080.
'Today, literature and reading culture have been overshadowed by social media. Earlier, people used to write and read literature as soon as they had time. Now they forget on social media,' he said, 'The need to explain the importance of book culture to the future generation is very challenging.'
He praised Budhanilkanth Municipality for organizing a program reflecting cultural harmony by bringing together writers from different regions of the country for the expansion of reading culture.
Saying that no art and artist can remain outside of literature, he claimed that his and Madankrishna Shrestha's work has always been close to literature. Writer and writer Jhamak Ghimire has also been honored at the festival which will be held on Friday and Saturday.
