The fifth phase of the Indian Lok Sabha elections is underway. Voting in 49 seats of 6 states and 2 Union Territories started from 7 am on Monday.

In the fifth phase of voting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Smriti Irani, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah and 695 candidates are in the election field. Under the fifth phase, voting is going on in Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

On Monday, voting is also being held in Rae Bareli region of Uttar Pradesh, where Rahul Gandhi became the candidate. Similarly, elections are being held today in Amethi, the constituency of Union Minister Irani. In India, the sixth phase of voting will be held on May 25 and the seventh phase on June 1. The election results will come on June 4.
