On March 21, Kejriwal was cleared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of corruption by introducing the liquor policy. He was confined in Tihar Jail on the orders of the court. After 49 days, he was released from jail for a short time on May 10 with the order of the Supreme Court. Kejriwal is expected to surrender before the court after the Lok Sabha polls are over on June 1. The court granted interim bail to Kejriwal keeping in mind that the Lok Sabha elections are an important democratic event to be held in five years. The court ordered Kejriwal's bail, noting that he had no criminal record and posed no threat to the society. Although the court granted Kejriwal leave for election campaign, he barred him from going to the chief minister's office.

The 18th Lok Sabha elections, which are being held from April 19, will end on June 1. Kejriwal was arrested a few days after the election was announced by the Election Commission. But he got relief only after the completion of three phase elections. It has been analyzed that Kejriwal's release from jail will benefit the opposition formation as polling will be held on May 25 in Delhi and June 1 in Punjab, where AAP has more influence. Since being released from jail, Kejriwal has been regularly addressing road shows and meetings in Delhi. It is estimated that Kejriwal will turn it into a vote after his arrest has increased sympathy for the opposition. Political analysts are saying that Kejriwal's release will benefit the opposition.

AAP has nominated 4 and Congress has nominated 3 seats. Singh believes that after Kejriwal starts campaigning, the Congress and his party will benefit from it. Punjab has 13 seats. There is no alliance between Congress and AAP. In the 2019 elections, Congress won 8 seats, Shiromani Akali Dal 2 seats, BJP 2 seats and Apane 1 seat. It has formed a government there by its 'clean sweep' in the assembly elections held in 2022.

Kejriwal is a person who emerged in politics by creating a national identity through anti-corruption movement, but now he himself is facing corruption charges. Anti-corruption protests erupted on the streets of Delhi 12 years ago during the latter half of the second term of the Congress-led Manmohan Singh government. Anna Hazare led it. Kejriwal was very active in that. After resigning from the post of Income Tax Officer in the Indian Revenue Service, he joined the anti-corruption movement advocating good governance and transparency. The movement of Anna Hazare along with Kejriwal shook the foundation of the Manmohan Singh government. Its impact was also seen in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Congress suffered a heavy defeat while BJP won majority.

It won its 28 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly for the first time, just short of a majority. The ruling Congress party was reduced to 8 seats due to the wave of Kejriwal and BJP. BJP became the first party to win 32 seats. Kejriwal defeated then Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit. Within a year of entering politics, Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi with the support of the Congress.

Kejriwal, who became the chief minister on December 28, 2013, resigned within 49 days after falling out with the Congress. In the 2015 assembly elections, it surprised everyone and won 67 out of 70 seats. BJP won the remaining 3 while Congress fell to zero. Kejriwal's popularity was on the rise. In the 2020 assembly elections, the people of Delhi again chose Kejriwal. We won 62 out of 70 seats. Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time in a row. He has been the Chief Minister of Delhi for 9 years. After Delhi, there is an AAP government in Punjab. After winning 2 seats in Goa and 5 seats in Gujarat, within 10 years of establishment, Kejriwal has got the status of his national party.

As the party prepares for this time's Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal and his influential leaders Manish Sishodiya, Satyendra Jain and Sanjay Singh have been jailed for corruption. The ED has accused the Kejriwal-led Delhi government of corruption by bringing the policy of giving the right to sell and distribute liquor to the private sector. Other than Jain, the leaders were arrested by the ED on the same charges. Jain is in jail in another money laundering case. Singh's bail some time ago and now Kejriwal's bail has allowed the party to re-enter the field with more activity during the elections.

Political analyst Ashutosh says that Kejriwal's presence is unlikely to cause a major change. "Kejriwal's party does not have a presence in the country as a national party, so no matter how much power he exerts, he cannot get much benefit," Ashutosh, who is also a founding member of AAP, told Kantipur, "AAP's fortress has been weakened in Delhi and Punjab. There is a possibility of getting benefits in these places.'
