Born in 1973 in Maharashtra, India, Tendulkar started playing cricket for the Indian national team in 1989 at the age of 16. He scored 51 hundreds in ODIs and 49 in Tests. He has scored 34 thousand 357 runs in 664 international matches. Which is 6000 runs more than Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who is in second place.

Cricket's all-time great batsman Tendulkar has scored 18 thousand 426 runs in ODI matches and 15 thousand 921 runs in Test matches. Tendulkar retired from the game in November 2013.
