Treatment of 350 patients daily is the same as regular. For the last three/four years, the treatment of road accident victims has been possible in Baglung. Only problems of a limited complex nature are referred.

Dispensary to Provincial Hospital

There is no other hospital in the nearly 200 km stretch from Rukumkot to Baglung Bazar. Pokhara is 72 km from Baglung. Therefore, those who travel through Madhyapahari Lokmarg should rely on Dhaulagiri Hospital for any treatment. The emergency department of Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung is always crowded with patients. The wards also look full .

Dhaulagiri Hospital was also like a referral center before the corona crisis in 2077. Some people used to reach Pokhara by looking for a taxi without entering the hospital. By taking advantage of the Corona crisis, the management committee, hospital administration and political leadership worked hard to improve the quality of the hospital.

'It was not like a hospital, pregnant women who had to be operated on had to be sent to Pokhara first,' said senior nursing officer Devi Bhattarai, 'Now even complex problems and operations are done here.' ;

Oxygen plant was installed in the hospital after the corona infection. 'During the treatment of the first variant of Corona, there was a problem of transporting four consignments of oxygen cylinders from Pokhara every day,' former president of the hospital KV Ranamar said, 'After adding the plant, it was possible to fill the cylinders and send them from the hospital to the village health post.'

800 liters per minute of oxygen production. Oxygen plant has been installed in 115 beds of the hospital. Medical Superintendent Dr. is ready to provide 200 beds and install oxygen plant in all of them. Raviranjan Pradhan said. Gandaki Provincial Government has placed this hospital at the second level after Gandaki Hospital in Pokhara and Dhaulagiri Hospital at the provincial level.

Pradhan himself is a consultant general physician. Senior Gynecology Specialist Dr. Dr. Rekha Paudel, senior pediatric specialist. Dr. Kiran Tiwari, Consultant Anesthesiologist. Amit Dhungana is active. There are 16 specialists including 3 consultant physicians, 6 surgeons, 1 orthopedic specialist, 1 dermatologist and venereologist, 1 radiologist and radiographer, 2 dental surgeons. 11 medical officers are also employed.

'Earlier, most of them used to arrange job transfers along with appointments, now this process has stopped,' said Lakshmi G.C. Karki, a member of the hospital development committee. She said that even the patient did not have to look for a taxi to go to Pokhara.

After the operation of 10 dialysis machines in the hospital, patients who have to wait for time have become zero . A basic one-door crisis management center and nutrition improvement center are also operational in the hospital. Cityscan machine has been installed here since last October. Pradhan informed that 640 people took the service of Cityscan in 7 months after the installation of the machine.

4 ICU rooms have been built. Preparations have been made to deliver 10 . "A lot of work has been done in the hospital, but due to one incident, the reputation of the hospital has not yet increased," said Narayan Sharma Paudel, Chairman of the Management Committee, "If the management is agile and patients can be treated well, trust can be increased." Given, he said .

First aid to 28 people injured in the Nisikhola accident on Chait 5th and complete treatment to 20 people were also possible in Baglung. Senior nursing administrator Shanti Bhandari said that the patients who came were fed food and changed clothes in the hospital. "We could not send patients with torn clothes and bare feet," said Bhandari.

The hospital has three state-of-the-art buildings . The hospital has its own pharmacy. There is also a free service to the target community . Many have also received treatment through the health insurance program . "The hospital has put forward the plan to build a heart treatment center, for that policy and financial management work is being done," said Paudel, "then it can be made like a city hospital." It has also been declared excellent. Currently, the hospital has 4 beds in ICU, 4 beds in pediatric treatment center, 29 beds in isolation and 15 beds in emergency . It is going to reach 200 in the remaining wad.

The start of trauma service

After the death of Hari Bahadur Khadka, a member of the Constituent Assembly, in a road accident in 2071, the government policy was made to establish a 'Hari Khadka Trauma Center' at Dhaulagiri Hospital. Out of the budget of 100 million allocated by the Gandaki state government in the budget of the last financial year, city san has been installed at a cost of 7 million rupees. Apart from that, Pradhan said that skilled doctors, other equipment and materials for trauma have also been purchased.

In the financial year 2076/077, the budget of Gandaki province was allocated 5 million for the trauma center. The budget was low. The budget was used to purchase some equipment. Despite the installation of CitiSac, 640 people were able to receive services within 7 months when radiologists and other equipment were also installed. Pradhan informed that the trauma service will be operated as a center after the target of making 200 patients in the hospital is achieved. "Since C Bhawan has been completed, only a few technical matters are left to become a trauma center," Pradhan said, "After the center is built, regular treatment services will also be operated."

Along with the plan to increase ICU beds, the OCMC room for women victims of violence has also been constructed. An initiative has been taken to make 10 beds in the ICU of the hospital and at least 4 beds in the OCMC. Apart from that, the aim of the hospital is to build D and E blocks. "The number of injured patients due to road accidents on the highway is increasing" said Dr. Amit Dhungana said, 'Regular treatment from trauma is possible when two surgeons are working.' He also told that when 2 surgeons are sitting, up to 40 different operations are being performed monthly. According to the hospital's trauma treatment staff, 4 to 7 people received treatment daily. Baglung municipality has also allocated 20 lakh rupees to manage the trauma treatment room this year.

dispensary to provincial hospital

Dhaulagiri Hospital was established as a 'dispensary in 2014'. It is being upgraded and now it has become a hospital of Gandaki Province. In the said dispensary, there was treatment for injuries. Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, 90 years old, the founder of the dispensary, says that the dosage is made according to age, disease and time from the amount of different types of medicine that comes in the bottle. Shrestha said that the government recognized the district hospital by sending Dr. Sachekumar Pahadi in 2017. Only then more treatment services were started here .

The dispensary established in a 4-storied building made of raw bricks and covered with thatch in Lampata of Baglung Bazar is now only limited to photos . After that, district hospital, zonal hospital and now provincial hospital has come into operation here. During the reformation, in the 2050s, a hospital was formed with 3 doctors serving.

Before that, the hospital was run by one or two health workers. Shrestha says, ``If a patient was called for treatment, he had to reach to Myagdi,'' says Shrestha. Shrestha, who worked for some time while staying at the dispensary, worked as a health assistant and later worked at Baglung Hospital for 5 years. Apart from that, Shrestha also became the chairman of the hospital development committee in 2059.

After the dispensary which used to treat one or two people every day became a zonal hospital, more than one hundred people started getting treatment every day. After the removal of the zone, there were many physical, managerial and administrative changes in Dhaulagiri Hospital. Old buildings were demolished and new buildings were built. Now 350 people come here daily for treatment. The government has already decided to allow nursing colleges for hospitals with more than 100 beds. Krishna Shankar Shrestha, a member of the management committee, said that the hospital management committee has already started its homework.
