The Nepali Congress, the largest party in Wagmati Province, will not immediately take the initiative to form a government under its leadership.
The Parliamentary Party meeting held at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at Hetaunda 10 on Tuesday made various decisions, but the policy of 'wait and see' will be adopted in the matter of government formation. "We will not take the lead in forming the government immediately. We will wait for some time", said Ramakrishna Chitrakar, Deputy Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party. He said that they will wait for some time because the government has the power in the court.
He claimed that the Congress will be hasty in preparing to form a government when the government led by Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel has not resigned and is preparing to take a vote of confidence.
According to the federal coalition in Wagmati, there is currently a government led by Jamkattel, the leader of the Maoist center, in the province. According to the central alliance, even if the Maoists, UML and CPN-S come together, the state government will not be formed. Our Nepali party, which has 2 votes in the House, is now decisive.
56 votes are required to form a government in the 110-member state assembly. There are 55 votes in the Provincial Assembly, including 27 from the UML, 21 from the Maoist Center and 7 from the CPN S. Now 1 vote is required to form the government. Because of this, the Maoists are working hard to protect the support of our Nepali Party government. There are 37 MPs of Congress, 13 of RPP, 3 of Nemkipa and 2 of our Nepali Party in the state.
The meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party has requested the government to immediately implement the report submitted to Speaker Bhuvan Pathak by the special committee formed by the Wagmati State Assembly to manage the budget and plan for the financial year 2080/081. The
meeting informed that the government was asked not to make long-term decisions and not to appoint them to the constitutional bodies.
The meeting has decided that the Congress will now effectively present itself in the role of the main opposition party in the House and approve the resignation of the Congress ministers from the government.
