Singer Menuka Paudel has been honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Sangeet Award. Poudel was honored with the prize worth Rs 51,000 in a ceremony held on Wednesday evening at Birgunj Municipal House.
Rajeshman Singh, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City and Devi Sahay Meena, Ambassador General of Indian Embassy in Birgunj, presented Poudel with a certificate of honor and a cash award.
Hanumani Devi Nathamal Vaidya Seva Samiti Birgunj announced this award 2 days after the death of singer Lata Mangeshkar 2 years ago, Ashok Vaidya, president of the committee said. He also claimed that this award is the first to be announced at the international level in the name of singer Mangeshkar. Vaidya, who is also the president of Nepal India Support Forum, said that Poudel is the first artist to be honored with this award. He said that this award will be given every year to artists who contribute in the field of art/music. After

"I am proud to be the first artist to receive an established award in Nepal in the name of my idol singer Lata Mangeshkar," she said, "This award and honor has added more responsibility and challenge."
The chief guest, Mayor Singh of Birgunj metropolis, said that he was very happy to honor Paudel in Birgunj. He personally gave Poudel 51 thousand rupees as an incentive. Similarly, Virganj Cycling Club also gave 25 thousand rupees as an incentive to singer Poudel. The treasurer of the organization, Sanjay Agarwal, handed over the amount to Paudel.
