Ashish Sah of the child development class likes to roll small rolls and bread in chowki. Mahi Mukhiya of the same class likes to fill small plastic cups and bottles with semolina. When they start rolling bread and stuffing semolina in this way, they don't notice the time passing.

Kindergarten teaching methods

After playing these games for a while, the teacher says, "Now we will fill in the colors" and we make different shapes on their plain paper and start filling in the colors with colored pens made of wax. It is not a child's nature, when one person starts to color, everyone starts scrambling to get a copy and a pen, saying 'me too, me too ma'am'.

After doing this coloring activity for a few days, we teachers start connecting the dots on their paper. After starting to do this, they start taking the coffee by saying 'I am myself'. By practicing connecting the dots in this way, they learn to draw straight lines. And then they start drawing letters easily. Pre-lettering exercises such as these encourage young students to draw letters. Also, play materials and coloring activities, such as easily available clay and semolina, strengthen the underdeveloped muscles of their hands.

On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, parents have enrolled their children in school. Most of the schools and teachers seem to be clueless about what basic skills and environment should be prepared for those students before the beginning of the alphabet. Some only children are solitary by nature, they first need to be taught basic socialization skills. Some children think of friends as enemies, and start pushing each other as soon as they cross. Most children do not want to play with shared toys. They eat other people's food with pleasure, they start crying when they give their own. After a few months of teaching basic skills along with other activities in child development classes, these children are ready for higher classes.

Teachers and parents do not have knowledge about the basic skills of children's early teaching and learning, the process of learning and teaching is becoming complicated. Some parents are heard to complain that 'how many months have passed and still can't write?' Some parents inquire the day after school enrollment, saying, 'Didn't you write today, ma'am?' Lately, some educated parents have started to say, "Send them only to play, not to write, to read". In this way, parents who understand the child psychology of their children according to their age can be counted on their fingers. There is no uniformity in the learning of children in the infant class due to their age, interest and environment.

Today's parents are doomed to experience what I experienced three decades ago. His son, who had reached the age of three years and a few months, had to drop out the day after he was admitted to school. The pain of my son crying in this way tormented me all day long. However, after my son's crying did not stop for four months, I decided to quit my job and after some time, I established a pre-school. Those little children feel insecure when they have to leave their mother's warm arms for the first time.

It is necessary for the teacher to play a coordinating role by understanding the mood of the student who cries for a long time in an unfamiliar place and in a crowd of people. School is a second home for young students, where they love to play like at home. Some children try to come to school even when they are sick or on holidays after they start to integrate well in school. The second home is a new environment, where they meet friends of different age groups and different religions, classes, communities and castes along with new game content.

Most of the foodie parents in Saharbazar buy expensive plastic toys for their children rather than educational ones. Children of infant class can use play materials that are easily available in the kitchen like bricks and suji, plastic bottles can also be used as play materials. Age- and interest-appropriate materials play an important role in the overall development of young students. Recently, majority of private schools in urban areas have started adopting the Monteshwari method at the pre-primary level.

We still don't have a lot of research on children's early teaching learning, including child psychology. An article titled 'Your Child's Brain' was published in Newsweek magazine. In which interesting and useful things about the child's mind are mentioned. Similarly, UNICEF Nepal brought a handbook that the Nepali parents believed to be useful for the things described in the article.

According to the book translated by Somraj Acharya, childhood is very important for any person. Similarly, childhood experiences, the behavior of parents and teachers, i.e., the environment in which one grows up in society, play a role in future personality development. It is necessary for teachers and parents to assimilate these concepts to make the early teaching and learning of the infant class child-friendly and fun.
