Women should take the lead of the nation: Former President Bhandari

She emphasized that women should take the initiative in the profession, class and women's community issues as well as national issues and take the lead of the nation. Former President Bhandari said that women should take leadership in contemporary national and international agendas, not just women's issues.

She said, 'Since the issue of gender equality is a common concern of both men and women, both women and men should be targeted when conducting awareness and empowerment campaigns in order to create common perceptions and understanding in this regard. The root cause of inequality, discrimination and violence against women is not men but the social and economic system based on exploitation. Therefore, we should not be limited to personal awareness or empowerment, but should connect the issue of women's liberation with the issue of overall social liberation or transformation.'

In the context that the current constitution has ensured the basic rights of the people as fundamental rights, former President Bhandari said that through the practical implementation of the fundamental rights provided by the constitution, to bring meaningful and positive changes in the lives of the people, it is necessary to take the initiative to move the country forward in the direction of achieving economic prosperity with social justice.
