The government has requested amnesty for three Nepalis in Sri Lankan prisons. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to request President Ramchandra Paudel to request the President of Chet Bahadur Thapa, Suk Bahadur Tamang and Tek Bahadur Tamang to be pardoned on humanitarian grounds.

"To recommend to the Honorable President to send a letter from the Honorable President to His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka requesting amnesty on humanitarian grounds for the sentences of Chet Bahadur Thapa, Suk Bahadur Tamang and Tek Bahadur Tamang who are living in captivity in Sri Lanka," said the decision of the Council of Ministers.

Three Nepalis were sentenced to life imprisonment for committing a serious crime. The government did not say more about the crimes they committed.
