The army extinguished the forest fire with the help of the villagers

After the risk of fire spreading towards Harihar Kshetra near Ampatar settlement of Bagmati municipality-11 and Pashupati community forest, the soldiers of Bhairavidal Gana of Nepali Army and local residents have brought the fire under control.

The army said that the fire in the forest was extinguished by adding soil and green apples. Colonel Surya Wahadur Karki, Ganapati of Bhairavidal Gana informed that the fire was brought under control with the help of 25 soldiers and villagers of the settlement under the command of Karmaiya Post Commander Hasta Bahadur Thapa. According to him, after receiving information that the settlement was at risk, the army was mobilized and the fire in the forest was brought under control.

With increasing dryness, forest fires are taking place in Chureveg of the district. In some places, the forest consumer committee has tried to extinguish the fire under the leadership, but it is beyond their control. The fire in Phuljor Baba Partnership Forest, Lalbandi Partnership Forest, Jankinagar Partnership Forest has not yet been brought under control.

Division Forest Office Sarlahi has informed that locals and consumers should be more active and aware in order to control the fire in the forest area. Rajinikanth Jha, who is an expert in the forest sector, said that both the forest office and the consumer committee tried to shirk their responsibilities and failed to control the fires in the forests.

According to him, the forest division office should be more careful because the fire in the forest will destroy the wood and affect the environment. Jha asked the Forest Office and Consumer Committee to double the number of forest patrols during the dry season.
