Parsa police has seized a large quantity of various clothes illegally imported and stored from the Indian border market to evade the customs revenue.

Illegal clothes worth more than 2 crores seized

The police raided the Godam located in Tulsyan Market located in Virganj Metropolitan City-6 on Thursday.

On the basis of special information, the team deployed from District Police Office Parsa seized various types of clothes worth around 12 million rupees that day. The police raided 3 godowns of Tulsyan Market on Thursday and searched 6 more godowns on Friday and recovered customs revenue evading clothes.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Bikram Thapa, two days of raids in Tulsyan Market have seized clothes worth around 22 million rupees.

Two days of raids, the police have seized shorting cloth, cotton printed cloth, shorts, pants, Dhaka cloth, saree, kurta surwal, men's dhoti, blouse cloth and cholo making cloth.

According to Thapa, who is also the spokesperson of the police, raiding clothes were seized from the warehouse of 44-year-old Ram Ekbal Kushwaha, a resident of Birganj Metropolitan Municipality 16, who rented a room in Tulsyan Market.

"Also, illegal clothes have been recovered from six other godowns in the same market," said Thapa, "whose owner's identity has not been revealed yet." The recovered clothes have been handed over to Birganj Customs Office for necessary action.
