Domestic violence is a serious social problem in Nepal, especially affecting women. For many women, partner drinking and abuse have become normal.
This type of violence has a profound impact on women's physical, mental and emotional health. When men drink alcohol daily, their behavior goes out of control. Under the influence of intoxication, they become aggressive and start misbehaving with their wives. This abuse turns into not only physical violence but also verbal abuse and mental torture. Stress and depression problems occur in women. They experience fear and insecurity, which reduces their confidence.
Society should not ignore cases of domestic violence. Family, neighbors and local community should support such women. The support of the society is necessary to increase the courage of the victimized women and to bring them justice. The government should also take strict legal action against domestic violence. Women should be educated and made aware. Education helps them become independent and helps them avoid domestic violence.
Legal aid should be provided to women facing domestic violence. Police, NGOs and other related organizations should provide support and protection to women. Counseling services should be provided to improve mental health. It helps in maintaining the mental balance of women. Ending domestic violence requires a collective effort. Let us all play our part in building a society free from domestic violence.
