Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Hit Bahadur Tamang has said that the ground handling service of Gautam Buddha International Airport located in Bhairahawa can be given to private airline companies as well.
Minister Tamang said this while inaugurating the 2nd National Tourism Conference and Photo Competition, 2024 held on Saturday under the joint initiative of Athot Nepal and Federation of Commerce and Industry of Wagmati Province Tourism Development Committee.
'Currently, the ground handling of Gautam Budh International Airport is being done by Nepal Air Service Corporation, but that responsibility can be given if a private airline company that is recognized for international flights starts regular flights based on this airport,' he said.
For this, Minister Tamang also said that approval has been given to the authority management to start the process according to rule 5.2 of the Civil Aviation Authority Airport Service Fee Regulations 2078.
Minister Tamang said that international flights can be directly increased at Gautam Budh International Airport by making private airline companies compete in this way.
In order to solve the problem in the tourism sector, the state needs to make policy reforms and encourage businessmen, Minister Tamang said that the government is now working on it.
