The former presidents of the Nepal Professors' Association, Professors Kapil Shrestha, Vinod Kumar Shrestha, Keswanand Giri, Bhimsendas Pradhan and other professors have objected to the attack on the freedom of the press in order to cover up and change the subject of the work being done on the involvement of the accused Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane in the cooperative fraud case.
9 professors have protested the arrest of Kantipur Media Group Chairman Kailash Sirohia in a vindictive manner.
"Respecting the role played by the intellectual community in Nepal's democratic movement and the support provided by the fourth organ of the state, the media world, we strongly condemn the arrest made as a mockery of press freedom, human rights, rule of law and democracy" The professors said, "We have a serious objection to this incident in which freedom of the press has been attacked to cover up and divert the topic of the involvement of Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, who is currently accused in the cooperative fraud case in Parliament."
