On the occasion of International Olympic Day 2024, Nepal Ski Association honored the record mountaineer Phunjo Lama on Friday.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), Phunjo successfully climbed Mount Everest in a record time. On that occasion, she also hoisted the flag of Federation and Nepal Ski Association on the peak.
Phunjo climbed the record in 14 hours and 31 minutes. On the occasion of the honor, five thousand euros received from FIS were awarded to Phunjo. Jeevanram Shrestha, who is also the president of the Nepal Olympic Committee along with Ski Association, handed over the amount. Phunjo is also a skier. President Shrestha Phunjo said that he is an inspiration for Nepali women.
This year's Olympic Day theme is 'Let's Move and Celebrate' and it is celebrated all over the world along with Nepal.
