On this day (March 17) in 1969, at the age of 70, Gold Mih became Israel's first female prime minister.
She took office as the fourth Prime Minister of Israel. Mih, who was born in Kiev, Ukraine, resigned in October 1974 citing health reasons. He was succeeded by Yitzhak Ravin as Prime Minister. Mih died on 8 December 1978 at the age of 80.
