Manchester United defeated Coventry City 4-2 in the tiebreaker and booked their trip to the FA Cup final on Sunday. In the semi-final at Wembley, United took a 3-0 lead at the appointed time but could not maintain it.
Coventry, playing in the second division championship league, scored three goals in the second half. Rossham Hodgland scored the decisive goal for United in the penalty shootout.
United will now face neighboring Manchester City in the final. It will also be a repeat of last year's final.
