One person died in a tipper accident

A laborer died when a tipper of the under-construction 37.5 MW Rahughatmangale hydropower project met with an accident on Saturday at Ghairabari in Chimkhola, Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7.

According to the police, 40-year-old Bir Bahadur Chaudhary of Varaiya, Dang, died on the spot when a cargo tipper No. 2 B 6112, which was returning after delivering cement to the project construction site at Raghuganga Gapa-8 Ghansikhark, fell off the road. The tipper accident of Ramechhap Sherpa Construction, the contractor of the Rahughatmangale hydropower project, where Tundipower Company is the developer, took place.

According to police, tipper driver Kamal Shrestha from Rupandehi district Devinagar, co-driver Triveni Gapa from Nawalparari district, Rahulsingh Thakuri from 6 and Bhuvan Karki from Ramechhap, sub-engineer of the project, were involved in the accident. The injured were taken to the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara by helicopter.

The body has been brought to Sardamukam Beni for post-mortem. The deceased Choudhary was returning to the powerhouse area after repairing the damaged equipment at the headsite of the project. District Police Office Myagdi said that the cause of the accident has not been revealed.
