UML government saved in Koshi, Kedar Karki's writ dismissed

The Supreme Court bench of Justices Kumar Regmi, Nahkul Subedi and Aziz Muslim decided to dismiss the writ filed by Kedar Karki.

Congress's Kedar Karki filed a writ seeking a mandate to make him the Chief Minister and the decision was taken to dismiss the writ on Tuesday.

Former Chief Minister Kedar Karki also filed a writ against Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung, Provincial Assembly Speaker Amber Bahadur Bista, UML Parliamentary Party Leader and Chief Minister Hikmat Karki, Koshi Provincial Assembly Members Revathiraman Bhandari, Ganesh Prasad Upreti and Kishore Chandra Dulal.

Kedar Karki filed a writ and demanded an interim order saying that the state chief Parshuram Khapung had appointed Hikmat Kumar Karki as the chief minister against the constitution.

Province Chief Khapung had appointed Karki as Chief Minister according to Article 5 of Article 168 of the Constitution on May 28. The Chief Minister dismissed the outgoing Chief Minister Karki and made Hikmat the Chief Minister on the grounds that he did not receive a vote of confidence, including the resolution proposal of the Parliament, the withdrawal of support by the UML MPs who had supported him when he was made the Chief Minister .
