Three houses were destroyed in Salyan when the forest fire broke out in the settlement. One person died while fighting the fire. Daljit Budhathoki, aged 35 years, of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-5 Chiura, died while extinguishing the fire.
As the fire spread in a community forest of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-1 Belkhola, the house of Buddhisingh Bista of Chiura and two other people were burnt, the police said.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Navin Karki of District Police Office Salyan, he collapsed due to smoke while extinguishing the house fire. His face was also burnt by the flames.
Budhathoki, who is currently undergoing treatment at Chiura health post, has come to Hos and he is out of danger, according to the police. Details of the damage to two houses and a shed are yet to come.
