With the increase in tourist arrivals in Bardiya National Park, tourism professionals have become enthusiastic. Since the current financial year, the tourism business, which has become weak due to the corona epidemic and economic recession, has gradually gained hope.
During the corona period, hardly any tourists come here, the hotel is gradually filled with tourists celebrating the winter season and New Year. There are about 30 small and big hotels around the park.
According to the statistics of the park, 2,300 Nepali men and women visited the park in the month of March. Assistant Conservation Officer Purushottam Wagle said that 14,169 Nepali citizens have visited Bardia Park since July.
Likewise, since July, 1,115 tourists from SAARC countries and 4,953 foreign tourists have visited the park. Assistant Conservation Officer Wagle said that 20,227 tourists from Nepali, foreign and SAARC countries visited the park till the end of March this year.
In the year 079/80, from July to mid March, 1 thousand 795 Nepalese tourists, 841 from SAARC and 4 thousand 804 foreign tourists entered the park. 18 thousand 440 tourists from Nepali, foreign and SAARC countries came till the end of March of that year.
To welcome the new year 2081, tourism businessman Basudev Bhattarai said that the number of tourists has increased in Bardia National Park on Friday. According to him, most of the hotels here are being filled with domestic and foreign tourists.
He said that hoteliers will hold a program reflecting Tharu culture including dancing for tourists till 12 o'clock on Friday night.
Tourism businessman Ramji Thapa said that domestic tourists along with foreigners had booked hotels a week ago to celebrate the New Year.
Domestic and foreign tourists are attracted by seeing tigers, rhinos, elephants and other animals easily in the park covering 968 square km, Assistant Chief Conservation Officer Wagle said. According to him, the choice of most people who come to Bardia is to see tigers. There are 125 tigers in Bardia Park.
